Creatives of color need more platforms

The Homeplace Collective was built to change that.

it’ our time

Creatives of color have been pioneers in art, culture, media, events, music, and beyond, yet they rarely receive the recognition they deserve. It's time to change that narrative. at The Homeplace Collective, we're dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the incredible contributions of creatives of color. It's no secret that they've been overlooked and under appreciated for far too long. its time to take back our POWER.

Hey Cousin,

At HPC events, we embrace the term "cousin" as a symbol of the strong sense of community and unity we strive to foster. Regardless of one's color, sexual orientation, or disability, everyone has a seat on the couch at The Homeplace. By referring to each other as "cousin," we emphasize the familial bond and the idea that we're all part of the same extended family. It's a reminder that despite our differences, we're united by our shared humanity and the values of acceptance, inclusivity, and love.

What we do

We create awe-inspiring and inclusive events, workshops, and experiences that mix culture, community and creativity. Our goal is to redefine art and experience space within the Bay Area. Our mission is to ignite the creative spirit within every individual, fostering a vibrant and inclusive space where innovation, expression, and collaboration thrive. Through immersive gatherings and dynamic workshops, we seek to inspire connection, spark dialogue, and celebrate the rich diversity of perspectives that make our community so extraordinary. Rooted in creativity and fueled by passion, we strive to leave an indelible mark on hearts and minds, enriching lives and uniting communities through the power of art and shared experiences.

Drawing deep inspiration from the profound insights of bell hooks, the Homeplace Collective seeks to honor and celebrate the black woman, recognizing her as a central force in shaping culture, society, and art. hooks' powerful writings on intersectionality, feminism, and the significance of acknowledging marginalized voices resonate deeply with our mission. We embrace her call for radical love, inclusivity, and social transformation, infusing these values into our events, workshops, and experiences. Through our work, we strive to amplify the diverse narratives and experiences of black women, fostering a space where their creativity, resilience, and contributions are celebrated and uplifted.
